Where to Stay
Booking.com has one the largest databases of holiday accommodation, in pretty much every country you can imagine, and then some, it’s our goto resource when booking a place to stay. Give them a try, just enter your destination and let them do the rest. Disclosure: we get a small, really really small, commission on any accommodation bookings made through this page, thank you, but you pay exactly the same as you will if you book directly.
Not everybody wants to use a somewhat impersonal resource like Booking.com or Airbnb, the properties listed below, are in no particular order and we receive no kickback from them. They are sites that we’ve made use of in the past and have found to give a more personal point of view. We can’t vouch for each property that they list, so welcome your feedback, good or bad, so that we can keep this list updated.
Yuppiestay offers accommodation options from an array of impressive properties for the discerning traveller. Including self catering, luxury lodges, hotels, and exclusive guest houses on the beach, in the city or or in the bush. This boutique service is provided by a small team of hospitality professionals who are easy to contact and dedicated to providing a tailored approach.
Hello Garden Route is a really great resource for not only places to stay, but also stuff to do along the Garden Route of South Africa. I know the owner and promise that she will look after you like a personal friend, give them a try.
The Belize Tourism Board website is chock full of information about the country, with pretty much everything you need to know. Got to say here that I’ve not yet been to Belize, it’s on my bucket list for “soon”, but it’s a website that I’ve bookmarked and am referring back to in the course of my research.
Travel websites in Namibia have come a long way in the past couple of years, but there are still a few horrible ones out there, Info Namibia is one of the newer generation of resources and a big bonus is that it’s mobile-friendly. It’s a website that includes properties that aren’t found on Booking.com etc, local knowledge is what it’s all about.
If you come across a website, or even an app that you think would fit in this list please do drop us an email or message from the contact page, we’re always looking for useful resources for our readers.
